In addition to the music festivals on the south shore (B.my lake, Strand Festival, Balaton Sound), the Paloznak Jazz Picnic, VeszprémFest and Káli Feszt provide a more subdued festival atmosphere in the summer. There are numerous wine and gastronomy-related weekend activities for vacationers, and the iconic Anna Ball is a great experience in Füred. In addition to the festivals, the Veszprém Zoo, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory and the adventure parks around Lake Balaton are also worth exploring during your stay.
ADVENTURE PARKS AND SPORTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
There are many adventure parks and leisure centres around Lake Balaton. The Extreme Adventure Park in Füred, the Zamárdi Adventure Park, the Balatonboglar Adventure Park, the Serpa Adventure Park in Balatonfűzfő and the Tihany Adventure Island are just some of the attractions you can visit, all of them offering a challenge for the whole family! Swimming, sailing and surfing can be enjoyed in almost any part of Lake Balaton, but extreme sports are also available. Water-skiing and wake boarding are available in Vonyarcvashegy, caving in the Balaton-felvidék National Park, tandem jumping in Balatonkeresztúr and footgolf in Balatongyörök.
ANNA BALL IN FÜRED
Thanks to the growing popularity of the Anna Ball every year, the Anna Festival has been held for nine years as an extra event in Balatonfüred. This year, between 26 July and 1 August, the organisers are preparing for one of Füred's most iconic traditions with a variety of programmes, music concerts and gastronomic specialities. The event is about to celebrate its 200th anniversary, and this year marks the 196th Anna Ball.
FESTIVALS AND EVENTS IN SUMMER
You don't have to miss a good theatre performance during the holidays either: the Kisfaludy Theatre in Balatonfüred is offering a series of Summer Nights 2021 until 19 August, while in Tihany the Tihany Open-Air Theatre will be held between 2 July and 26 August. In Balatonkenese, there will be a series of Wednesday theatre performances until 21 August. And from 7 to 29 August, the Balatonfüred Wine Week will take place, with 25 winemakers from the Balatonfüred and Csopak wine regions offering nearly 300 different wines. The ninth Paloznak Jazz Picnic will take place from 29-31 July, featuring international and local jazz, funk and soul musicians, as well as a fabulous gastronomic experience. Local producers and sustainability will also play a key role.
VESZPRÉMFEST
The 15-year-old festival is located in the heart of Veszprém, next to the Archbishop's Palace, which enhances the atmosphere of the event with its picturesque beauty. Since 2011, the festival has been held in conjunction with the Rozé, Rizling and Jazz Days, which present the excellent wines of Lake Balaton, handcrafted food and young personalities of the Hungarian jazz scene. The accompanying event is free of charge. This year's VeszprémFest will take place from 17-21 August and is the perfect way to round off the summer.
